In a nutshell
A hilarious musical that's part pop concert, part rave and a sprinkle of church choir
When Yve Blake met a 13-year-old girl who said, with full sincerity, that she was going to marry Harry Styles, at first, she couldn’t help but laugh.
"All my assumptions about fangirls were built on society-wide prejudices towards young women when they express passion,” Blake explains. “And what I realised is that the world looks very differently at a group of young boys screaming their lungs out at a football match than it does at a group of young fangirls screaming their lungs out at a Bieber concert."
Cue thousands of hours of exploring the phenomena of fangirls, resulting in a hilarious new musical comedy about first love, fan culture and the danger of underestimating teenage girls.
Get ready for the most fun you've had in a theatre all year!
FANGIRLS was originally commissioned and developed by ATYP, with the support of Global Creatures.
