Powering Stories and Communities
Celebrating QTC and Energy Queensland: a long-standing partnership with heart, purpose and soul.
Behind every theatre production is a network of partnerships helping bring stories to life. These collaborations play an essential role in supporting the arts, not only making ambitious productions possible, but helping theatres connect with broader communities and ensuring important stories continue to reach audiences across Queensland.
Since joining as a Major Program Partner in 2012, iconic Australian energy provider Energy Queensland – through Energex and Ergon Energy Network – has helped bring an incredible 298 performances to the stage, shared with more than 113,000 audience members. From the sweeping coming-of-age story of Boy Swallows Universe to celebrated First Nations works including The Sunshine Club, Dear Son and, most recently, The Sapphires, the partnership has supported stories that reflect the richness, complexity and identity of contemporary Australia.
Behind those numbers are thousands of shared moments: first theatre experiences, standing ovations, post-show conversations and stories that stay with audiences long after they leave the theatre. At its heart, the partnership is grounded in a shared belief that storytelling and cultural connection help build stronger, more connected communities.
At Queensland Theatre Company, we often speak about the unique power of theatre, one of the few places where people gather in the same room, at the same moment, to experience a story together. To laugh together. Reflect together. See the world through someone else’s eyes.
Paige Ridgewell, Chief Customer Officer, Energy Queensland says, “For Energex and Ergon Energy Network, supporting theatre reflects the same community focus that sits at the heart of our work across Queensland. While we help power homes and businesses across the state, our partnership with Queensland Theatre Company helps power something different… the stories, ideas and conversations that connect the communities we serve and reflect the people we work with every day.”
Together, we’re proud to help power stories that bring Queensland communities together.
