Workshop at your school
A Teaching Artist from Queensland Theatre visits your school for a workshop tailored to your needs. From concept creation, devising, acting, or directing – we’ll collaborate on the creative journey. You’ll be asked to fill in a pre-workshop survey, so the Teaching Artist can tailor the workshop to your needs.
Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast & Gold Coast:
- When you register, metro schools can select a workshop at your school for Term 2 or in the first weeks of Term 3.
Regional Schools:
- When you register, we ask for which weeks in Term 2 would be suitable and bring a Teaching Artist to your region at a time that suits the majority of schools in your community. We’ll lock in dates with you as soon as possible, so you can plan.
Outcome Day
You’ll attend your allocated outcome day and share your work with the other participating school groups, before watching a full length performance by professional actors from Queensland Theatre. The day ends with a dynamic group forum.
“The process, the support and the opportunity for students to perform, in front of peers and professionals is always a drawcard. We don't have many opportunities for student workshops and live theatre in our town so this opportunity is a MUST.” — Teacher
“Getting to see the other schools perform and meet up with people of the same interests as me from different schools-making some new friends.” — Participant
“I want my students have real opportunities to perform in community. It’s often hard to create “authentic” assessments with real experiences attached to them, so this was a highlight for my students.” — Teacher
“Students love this project. It helps to grow numbers in Senior Drama and exposes students to live theatre, connecting with actors/writers and being the first to read a script/see a live performance is super special.” — Teacher
“I loved being able to see the professional version of the play, and talk to the artists about the creative process, I felt really connected to their theatre.” — Student
“I love the opportunity to allow students to work with professional writer's work with more freedom than the senior syllabus allows. I also like the opportunity for students from other grades to work together. We get lots of opportunity to critically talk about works and respectful approaches to other works.” — Teacher
“I really enjoyed how I got to express myself through my theatre side of me. I enjoyed watching the performances of fellow schools, and I'll like to take what they did and apply it in my work.” — Student
“Allowing students to be part of the production process from beginning to end is an opportunity they don't receive elsewhere at our school. The ability to share work with diverse schools is also a highlight - it removes them from their bubble and allows them to witness live theatre in an accessible way.” — Teacher
