Theatre Residency Week FAQs
Students will stay on campus at Stuartholme School in its boarding facilities and spend each day developing their theatre skills through workshops conducted by Core Group Artists who have a speciality in a particular style of theatre-making. Each Core Group will work towards a performance on the Friday evening for a live audience of family and friends.
The evenings are spent engaged in an exciting social and cultural program supervised by live-in House Parents, who are also all Queensland Theatre Company staff and Teaching Artists.
Participants will choose groups to join and work with each day to build their live performance outcome together. These are called Core Groups and usually have approximately 20 students each. They are facilitated by experienced Teaching Artists, who are carefully selected by Queensland Theatre Company’s Education & Young People team.
For their pastoral care, participants are divided into House Parent Groups of approximately 20 students. All House Parents are highly experienced in working with young people. During the day, the week is supervised by Day Staff, who are also Queensland Theatre Company staff members. All staff onsite have a Working With Children Check by the Queensland Government, and several staff are trained in first aid. Students are supervised at all times and staff exercise their utmost duty of care in the undertaking of the week. In return we also require students to exhibit their best self-care and respect for others as part of their participation in the program.

· Experience hardship
· Identify as First Nations
Please indicate in the application form if you wish to apply for a scholarship, which will ask for an additional short statement (150 words).
Unfortunately, Theatre Residency Week North Queensland will not go ahead in 2026. We look forward to welcoming participants living in regional and remote Queensland to the Brisbane in 2026.
