We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before your performance. This gives you time to find the theatre, visit the Box Office or bar and take your seat before the performance begins.

Performances start at the advertised time, and latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance - and for some productions, late admission may not be possible.

Theatre doors generally open 15 minutes before the performance start time.

There is no dress code for the theatre. For many people, a trip to the theatre is a special experience and a chance to dress up a little bit. Ultimately, wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident.

Our theatres and foyers are air-conditioned, and different temperatures suit different people. We recommend bringing a jacket or scarf in case you feel cool.

Some performances include an interval or intermission, usually lasting around 15 - 20 minutes, while others run straight through.

You can find the approximate running time and interval information on the production page, once these details are confirmed.

During an interval, you're welcome to stay in your seat, visit the foyer or bar, or stretch your legs.

Theatre is a live experience, so don’t be afraid to react! Laugh, gasp, cry and applaud - the performers love knowing you’re there with them.

To help everyone enjoy the performance:

• Please turn your mobile phone and smart watch off or switch them to silent, and keep screens off during the performance.

• Photography, filming and audio recording are not permitted during performances.

• Where possible, please avoid eating food in the theatre.

• If you need to cough or sneeze, please cover your mouth and nose and be mindful of those around you.

• Please be mindful of noise that may distract the performers or other audience members.

We want you to feel informed and comfortable when attending a performance. Where possible, we provide information about the content, themes and production elements of each show.

You can find available warnings on the relevant production page. We recommend checking these before your visit, as information may be updated throughout the season.

If you would like more information about a production before attending, please contact our Ticketing team.

The Bille Brown Theatre bar opens 90 minutes before each performance, serving a selection of beer, wine, sparkling, soft drinks, light meals and snacks.

The bar is now cashless, with card payments accepted.
