Check which theatre you are going to on our website or your tickets. Queensland Theatre performs in multiple theatres around Brisbane. In 2025 we will perform in two venues:

• Bille Brown Theatre: 78 Montague Road, South Brisbane
  
• Playhouse, QPAC (opposite the Wheel of Brisbane ferris wheel)

Make sure you plan how to get to the theatre, and where to park if you are coming by car. Sometimes we aren’t able to admit latecomers to the auditorium once the show has started. Plays start at the advertised time.

We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes beforehand. This will give you time to collect your tickets, and even relax with a drink in the foyer. Tickets can be collected from the venue box office one hour before the show. The audience can take their seats in the auditorium 15–20 minutes before the show starts.

There is no dress code for theatre — so wear what you feel comfortable in. Remember that most shows have a duration of anywhere between 1 hour and 3 hours, so it’s important that you are comfortable in your seat. Live performance is a special, fleeting event, so avoid looking too casual. Different temperatures suit different people so if you are likely to find the air conditioning too cool, bring a jacket or scarf.

Different words, same meaning. This is usually a 15–20 minute break during the performance. You can opt to stay in your seat, head to the foyer for a drink or stretch your legs.

When in a theatre, some noises and behaviours are encouraged and others discouraged.

We encourage:

• You to laugh, gasp, cry and applaud. Your reactions let the actors know your appreciation of the performance — you don’t have to wait until the bows (aka curtain call) to show your enjoyment.
• Let us know what you think — we love your feedback so please send us an email or letter, post a Facebook comment or make a phone call to tell us what you liked, and just as importantly — what we need to improve.
• Be familiar with the show warnings. When applicable we post warnings about the use of coarse language, smoke or strobe effects, adult themes and depictions of violence in a show. If any of these concern you, please talk to our staff. We don’t want you to feel offended, unwell or be caught off-guard.

We discourage:

• Mobile phones — please turn them off once you’re in the auditorium. Phones switched to ‘vibrate’ are still very distracting in a quiet auditorium. Texting? It might be quiet — but it’s distracting for the actors and your neighbours when the phone screen lights up your face.
• Cover your mouth if you cough/sneeze — it’s good manners and a single cough measures approximately 65 decibels (the sound of a vacuum cleaner is 70 decibels) — so muffling the sound is important.
• Please refrain from eating during the performance. It can be noisy and distracting.
• Remember that photography or recording of any part of the set or performances is prohibited.
