What is the Young Writers Ensemble?

An intensive year-long program for aspiring playwrights in Grades 10-12, this program provides an opportunity for writers to develop their craft by participating in a series of fortnightly workshops (exact schedule for 2025 can be found in the Application Pack below), facilitated by award-winning playwright Steve Pirie.

If you have ever been curious about how to make and tell stories on stage, this program is for you.

Over the course of this program, participants will:

  • Work to complete a full draft of an original play.
  • Present excerpts of their work at Queensland Theatre’s Young Writers Night.
