Queensland Theatre is excited to introduce a brand-new Young Writers Ensemble, an intensive year-long program for aspiring playwrights aged 15–19 years.

What is the Young Writers Ensemble?

An intensive year-long program for aspiring playwrights aged 15 - 19 years, this program provides an opportunity for writers to develop their craft by participating in a series of workshops, facilitated by award-winning playwright and Associate Artist, Steve Pirie.

If you have ever been curious about how to make and tell stories on stage, this program is for you.

Regional young writers or those unable to travel are also strongly encouraged to apply – you can still participate online!

Over the course of this program, participants will:

  • Work to complete a full draft of an original play.
  • Present excerpts of their work at Queensland Theatre’s Young Writers Night.
