Queensland Theatre is the State Theatre company for Queensland with a bustling, busy work environment and a variety of working spaces within the Montague Road building. Queensland Theatre is an exciting, multi-faceted workplace which houses:
- Two performance venues, the Bille Brown Theatre & the Diane Cilento Studio
- Two rehearsal spaces
- A wardrobe department
- Set-building workshop
- Office spaces and many more areas where related work is delivered
In order to give Student Pathways Program participants an insight into the State Theatre company, and offer a connected and relevant learning experience, we set a hypothetical challenge for the participants to complete over the week; to develop a mock-pitch in small groups from the choice of a selection of theatre scripts.
Throughout the week, participants will meet all of the departments within the organisation, participate in hands-on learning activities that will provide them with the knowledge, inspiration, and physical materials needed to complete the challenge, and depart Queensland Theatre with invaluable insights, skills and connections.
- A viewing of Queensland Theatre’s Pride & Prejudice at 3pm, Sunday 9 March at QPAC
- A behind-the-scenes venue tour of Queensland Theatre, Montague Road
- The chance to pick the brains of Queensland Theatre’s industry professionals
- A rehearsal/design presentation for a Production in 2025 Season
- The development of a mock-pitch in small groups for a theatre work (from the choice of 4 scripts)
- The opportunity to make life-long friends and industry connections in the process!
The program is open to Queensland students in Years 10-12. The course is designed for students wanting to explore career pathways in the arts outside of performing.
Priority will be given to students in senior and those with a keen and demonstrated interest in creative and technical roles other than acting.
